Each year, the pack organizes several outdoor experiences that supplement the types of things they are learning as they ascend through the Cub Scout program. While the programs may change from one year to the next, we believe one thing that is fundamental is exposing to scouts the accessibility of nature and teaching them outdoor skills. While the pack will typically organize camping trips and hikes in nearby local communities, dens are also encouraged to plan extracurricular activities which engage the scouts in learning about the outdoors.
Overnight CampingEach year, the pack organizes two seasonal camping trips (typically Fall and Spring) with programming that includes swimming, canoeing, BB gun ranges, archery, tomahawk throwing, ropes courses, soccer, baseball, evening campfire sing-alongs, smores, and lots, lots more! In the past, we have attended Camp Sayre and Lone Tree, both part of the BSA's New England Base Camp sites, and Mass Audobon's Camp Wildwood, nestled just over the border in southern NH.

Skyline HikeThe Skyline trail is an excellent way to experience our local MIddlesex Fells reservation. This 7mi hike explores different parts of the reservation that include climbing towers, rock formations, and scenic views of the surrounding areas. While participating on this hike, scouts will learn how to prepare for various weather conditions, strategies for not getting lost, important ways to help preserve nature and take care of our surroundings, and appreciate the natural history of the historic Fells. Scouts who complete the hike also earn a special medal for their achievement!
