Community outreach programs provide an opportunity for scouts of all ranks to share in activities that are designed to instill a sense of community, leadership, service and achievement. These programs focus on helping out other community service programs and volunteers in our own town community. Some examples of the types of community service projects scouts have participated in throughout the years include:
The Good Turn Leaf RakeA commitment to community and service is an important component of the cub scout program. Appropriate for scouts of all ages, our annual leaf rake on the grounds of the Crawford Memorial United Methodist Church provides a local opportunity for public service and acknowledges the appreciations scouts have for using the church for events and meetings. Family members are welcome to participate!

En Ka Fair and Aberjona River CleanupEvery Spring, Winchester's En Ka volunteer organization sponsors a multi-day town-wide carnival attended by thousands of people. At the end of this, scouts of all ages show their support and thanks by volunteering to help with the cleanup initiative. Cub Scouts also support the Boy Scouts in their annual initiative to help clean up trash and debris around our local Aberjona river.

Veteran's Day and Memorial Day ParadesDuty and citizenship are fundamental qualities of a good scout. These events enable scouts to gain perspective on how the brave members of our armed forces contribute and make sacrifices to keep others in our city, state and country safe and stand up for and defend the ideals of the US Constitution. After the parade, scouts are invited to stay and listen to what serving means to veterans in our own community as they share their own personal experiences. Many have very inspiring stories to tell!
